TikTok boycott in Saudi Arabia due to Application policy.
A wave of anger has spread among Saudi activists on social media due to deleting their accounts.
And also the bias they have noticed against the Kingdom’s content on the TikTok application.
Which prompted them to create the hashtag #Boycott_TikTok on X platform to boycott content in Saudi Arabia.
Reason for boycotting TikTok
According to Saudi media, the boycott campaign in Saudi Arabia started in late October 2023.
After Saudi activists posted complaints on social media about deleting their accounts.
Especially those that promote national content or support the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The participants in the campaign saw that TikTok is adopting a policy that includes racism against Saudi content.
Also they are accusing the application for its colluding with parties hostile to Saudi Arabia.
TikTok is also allowing the publish of offensive content to the Kingdom, and deletes content that supports it.
An account named The Saudi Deterrent posted that TikTok suspended a Palestinian account.
Which was reviewing Saudi aid to Palestine, and called for boycotting TikTok as a national duty.
In addition to banning the application in Saudi Arabia and countries interested in the intellectual security of its people.

TikTok’s response to the boycott of the application in Saudi Arabia
The boycott resulted in a decrease in the number of Saudi TikTok users.
As well as a decline in the platform’s rating level from 4.4 to 4.3 on app stores.
The campaign also prompted TikTok to take action, such as launching a dedicated page for Saudi content on its website.
However, the boycott campaign in Saudi Arabia continues, and this will surely affect the application’s growth in the Kingdom.
The official account of the TikTok application in the Middle East published a statement on the X platform to calm things down.
In which it confirmed that there is no truth to the rumors that have been circulating about TikTok deleting content related to Saudi Arabia.
The post on X include the below:
“We at TikTok are proud of our community in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is a source of inspiration for creativity in various fields.
We strongly reject these allegations because they contradict our policy and values and spread a misleading image of TikTok’s content management policies.
Which are committed to a set of community guidelines that include rules and standards for using the platform.”
Do you think that Saudi Arabia users will continue their boycott to TikTok ?
