The UN launched an urgent appeal yesterday to raise donations worth $294 million to help both Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.
The Office of Humanitarian Affairs of the United Nations (OCHA) said in a statement that the amount is going to help more than 1.2 million people in Gaza and the West Bank.
Also, the UN has warned that the humanitarian organizations do not have the needed resources.
In order to “respond appropriately to the needs of vulnerable Palestinians any longer”
The UN had previously announced that more than 423,000 people had been forced to flee their homes in the Gaza Strip.
Because there is intense Israeli shelling.
OCHA: the number of displaced people in the densely populated Strip of 2.3 million people had increased by 84,444 additional people yesterday.
Moreover, the World Health Organization warned that the health system in the Gaza Strip is on the verge of collapse.
Also it pointed out that every hour that passes reduces the opportunities available to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe.
Because the needed fuel, medical supplies, and humanitarian supplies to save lives cannot reach Gaza Strip.
Due to the complete blockade imposed on it by Israel.
The organization explained:
“Electricity is not available for more than a few hours a day in Gaza.
Moreover, we need to adopt a rationing system to distribute the small remaining amount of fuel reserves.
And to rely on generators in order to ensure continuous essential work.”
UNRWA has moved its central operations center to southern Gaza.
UNRWA announced that it has moved its central operations center and international staff to southern Gaza.
In order to continue its humanitarian operations and support its staff and Palestinian refugees.
Also the agency added on X platform:
“We urge the Israeli authorities to protect all civilians in UNRWA shelters, including schools.”
While the Israeli army has ordered all residents of the Gaza Strip to evacuate the city and head to the south of the Strip.
Mentioning that the war between the Jewish state and the Hamas movement entered its seventh day.
In a statement, the army called on “all residents of the Gaza Strip to evacuate their homes.
And head south for their protection and to be located south of the Gaza Valley.”
Also it stressed that “Returning to Gaza Strip is not allowed except a statement is issued to allow that.”
The army also stressed to the residents that they need to “head south to preserve your personal security.
As well as the security of your families”
stressing that “They should not approach the area of the fence (border) with the State of Israel.”
