As residents across the UAE gear up to celebrate Eid Al Adha this year, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and in the occasion of Blessed Eid Al Adha 2023 holidays has ordered to release 988 inmates from correctional facilities.
They have been charged in different cases.
In this situation, within the framework of the country’s humanitarian initiatives the inmates will be released.
To clarify based on the values of forgiveness and tolerance.
The official pardon is issued to strengthen family ties.
Also to give the inmates of correctional facilities the opportunity to benefit from the blessed occasion to return to their homes.
Furthermore, the inmates will have an opportunity to start over in positive participation in life.
Which will reflect on their families and society.
It is worth to mention that it is common practice for the Rulers of the UAE’s emirates to pardon prisoners during significant Islamic occasions.
In this occasion, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai ordered to release 650 inmates of punitive and correctional institutions in Dubai.
Annually, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed pardons a number of inmates of correctional and penal facilities on the occasion of Eid Al Adha and other occasions such as Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr, for example: Before the start of Ramadan 2023 Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed has pardoned 1,025 inmates.
