GCC Ministers of Health invited by UAE Minister of Health to attend COP28 in Dubai.
His Excellency Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, renewed his invitation to the GCC Ministers of Health to attend COP28.
Which will be hosted by the United Arab Emirates in Dubai from November 30 to December 12, 2023.
Moreover, he invited them during the 9th meeting of the GCC Committee of Ministers of Health in Oman.
His Excellency Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Owais led the UAE delegation to the meeting of the GCC Committee of Ministers.
COP28 will dedicate a day to health on December 3, 2023 for the first time in its history.
During the meeting, His Excellency Al Owais noted that COP28 will dedicate a day for health on December 3, 2023.
On this day, Ministers of Health from most countries around the world will meet to exchange ideas, views, and expertise.
And also to develop future plans to address the impacts of climate change and ensure food security, health, and healthcare facilities for all.
His Excellency Al Owais said:
“It is important to strengthen the health response to climate change.
Because the increase in heat waves and the spread of vector-borne diseases pose an increasing threat to the health of individuals and communities.
This confirms the importance of establishing health systems that are resilient to the impacts of climate change.
This meeting will be an opportunity for the GCC countries to cooperate with the world countries to reduce climate change and its impact on health.”
The UAE wise leadership supports the joint GCC work.
He added: The UAE’s participation in the meeting comes within the framework of the wise leadership’s vision.
Which aims at continuous support for the joint GCC work.
As well as accelerating the pace of effective coordination.
By strengthening cooperation ties between the GCC countries and driving the sustainable development process in all sectors.
including health, which is one of the priorities for improving the quality of life and well-being of the GCC community.
Moreover, His Excellency Al Owais praised the efforts and fruitful results that have been achieved.
By discussing joint health projects and reviewing the progress made by the GCC countries.
Which is towards developing leading Gulf health models.
And also towards supporting the prosperity of the GCC community in a sustainable manner.
The GCC promotes coordination in the health fields between the member states.
His Excellency Al Owais explained that the UAE appreciates the pivotal role played by the committees emanating from the GCC.
Because it is promoting coordination in the health fields between the member states.
And also it is combining joint efforts in health projects.
In order to improve the performance of the countries’ health systems.
In addition to achieving the best ways to cooperate and integrate.
The 9th meeting agenda of the GCC Ministers of Health Committee included following up on the decisions of the Supreme Council in the health fields.
