The UAE Celebrates Astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi return to Earth, after a successful 6-month mission to the International Space Station.
He achieved a new record for the UAE by accomplishing the longest Arab mission in space.
Al Neyadi became the first Arab astronaut to undertake a spacewalk outside the ISS, as part of Expedition 69 in April last year.
Which lasted for about 7 hours to carry out a number of essential tasks such as maintenance and updating.
As well as completing the preparatory series for the installation of a number of solar panels on the station.
Solar energy plays a central role in operating the International Space Station.
Besides providing clean and renewable energy to support experiments, systems, and daily operations on board.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the President of the UAE, congratulated Astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi on his safe return via his X account, he said :
The UAE leading the space field.
This success has boosted the UAE’s global leadership in the space sector.
Since the UAE has become the tenth country in the world in spacewalk missions outside the International Space Station.
This reflects the efforts of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center to continue exploring space.
This historic achievement is also added to the record of the Arab world’s contributions to the exploration of outer space.
After Astronaut Al Neyadi completed about 4,000 hours of work in space, he contributed to the development of scientific and technological pathways.
Also he has conducted about 200 scientific experiments in various fields that took about 585 hours.
The most prominent of these are the below:
-Studying the effects of microgravity on the response of human cells to inflammation.
-The experiment to produce protein crystals for the PCG2 antibodies.
-Studies on how to burn certain materials in microgravity.
In addition to preparing tissue chip research on the functions of the heart, brain, and cartilage.

The Emirati astronaut achieved success in scientific experiments in cooperation with 25 local and international universities.
As well as 10 international space agencies.
Al Neyadi implemented about 19 research experiments in cooperation with the following:
-NASA, the European Space Agency, the Canadian Space Agency.
– Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)and the French National Center for Space Studies.
This cooperation contributed to the accomplishment of the first-of-its-kind “Lumina” experiment.
Which aims to study the levels of space radiation at the International Space Station.
In addition to preparing medical scientific studies that include a study of the cardiovascular system and a study of the causes of diseases in space.
The mission launched by the MBRSC on March 3 to the International Space Station is the first long-term mission for Arab astronauts in history.
Al Neyadi arrived at the station on board the SpaceX Dragon Endeavor spacecraft with the Crew-6 mission team.
