ADNOC Distribution announces the start of using B20 biodiesel to operate its fleet of heavy trucks in the UAE
ADNOC Distribution initiative aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from fleet operations by 15%.
In fact, the company’s fleet plays a key role in providing fuel and liquefied gas products to commercial and corporate customers.
While this initiative represents a new step by ADNOC Distribution to implement its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
This is also in line with ADNOC Group’s efforts to accelerate its carbon intensity reduction plans.
ADNOC Distribution commitment to reduce the carbon intensity of its operations by 25% by 2030,
Engineer Bader Saeed Al Lamki, ADNOC Distribution CEO, said:
“We announce this step as part of our efforts to meet our commitment to reduce the carbon intensity of our operations by 25% by 2030.
Through the use of biodiesel to operate our vehicles.
By using B20 biodiesel in its operations, ADNOC Distribution is seeking to take concrete steps.
And it is also seeking to contribute to the development of effective solutions to secure a more sustainable future.
This initiative also reflects our commitment to supporting the UAE’s strategic initiative to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.”
In fact, the blending process of biodiesel is produced from cooking oil waste.
And also it is carried out at the company’s latest factory in Zayed City in Abu Dhabi.
Through this initiative, ADNOC Dist aims to reduce carbon emissions from the transportation sector.
It also aims to confirm the implementation of its commitment through practical steps to enhance the sustainability of the sector.
ADNOC converted $1.5 billion (AED 5.5 billion) to sustainability targets.
In January 2023, ADNOC Distribution announced its success converting existing financing of $1.5 billion (AED 5.5 billion) to specific sustainability targets.
Moreover, ADNOC Distribution has committed to a system of penalties and incentives linked to sustainability indicators.
This includes the rate of reduction of the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions.
Which reflects the company’s strategic direction and it is one of the key performance indicators for obtaining sustainable financing.
In addition, ADNOC Distribution is working to develop innovative solutions to serve the transportation sector.
Including continuing efforts to provide electric vehicle charging points.
Which are currently available at 38 ADNOC service stations throughout the country.
Alternative fuel options including compressed natural gas by ADNOC Distribution.
ADNOC Distribution also announced earlier the launch of “E2GO” in partnership with Taqa.
With the aim of establishing and operating the infrastructure needed to charge electric vehicles in Abu Dhabi and other parts of the country.
ADNOC Dist also offers through its network of stations in the UAE alternative fuel options including compressed natural gas.
In addition, the company launched the “Voyager” green oil series in 2022.
Which are alternative lubricants dedicated to gasoline and diesel engines manufactured using 100% plant-based base oils.
This is in line with the company’s direction to enhance the diversity of its products.
And also offer more sustainable and environmentally friendly options in response to changing customer needs.
