The UAE has enhanced its position on the international stage under the comprehensive vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan
The UAE joins the BRICS group as of January 1, 2024.
Recognizing the fundamental importance of the group’s initiative as a mechanism to enhance global peace, stability, and prosperity.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed:
“The UAE’s accession to BRICS embodies the approach of partnership and the strong spirit of friendship within the group.”
In this occasion, the Arab League congratulates the UAE, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia on their invitation to join the BRICS group.
The BRICS countries approval on the UAE’s access to the group is based on many political, developmental, and economic criteria that the state has embodied with merit and ability.
Soft power
The United Arab Emirates is the first in the region and tenth in the world in soft power influence on the 2022 Global Soft Power Index.
While the UAE ranked 10th in the world in terms of diplomatic influence and 11th in the world in terms of media influence.
As His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said:
“The real soft power of the UAE is in its development model that brings together the East and the West.
It brings together the best ideas and minds.
Also, it brings together people from all cultures without discrimination to build the best development experience in the world.”
Hard continuous efforts
The UAE’s progress on the Soft Power Index is the result of hard continuous efforts.
As well as the directives of the wise leadership to enhance the state’s global role in all fields.
The UAE is moving forward in consolidating the pillars of its internal development through mega projects.
In addition to qualitative initiatives that position it as the best attractive and innovation-friendly environment in the world.
Besides expanding the scope of its positive impact regionally and globally.
Through its conscious awareness of its responsibility towards international issues that require concerted efforts to address them.
Also through close ties with most countries of the world on solid foundations of respect, trust, and appreciation.
In addition to the joint pursuit of deepening partnerships aimed at achieving success that benefits all parties involved.
Global partnerships
The UAE has succeeded in enhancing and employing its soft power within the framework of a strategy to build constructive global partnerships.
Based on prosperity and development such as relations with Japan, Turkey, India and Jordan.
Also it has concluded economic, trade, and technical cooperation agreements with many countries around the world.
Kindness and giving
The UAE has enhanced its position as the most influential country in the region in the course of global events.
In a way that serves stability and alleviates the suffering of the people of troubled and affected areas as a result of security disturbances or natural disasters.
The UAE’s assistance is primarily focused on the human side.
Which includes the needs of people, reducing poverty and eliminating hunger.
In addition to building development projects for all those in need.
It also establishes relations with the recipient and donor countries to achieve the goals of sustainable development.
Reducing tensions
The UAE also follows a policy of reducing tensions, repairing relations, reaching agreement on files and common interests.
As well as enhancing cooperation and dialogue on contentious files.
It has relied on policies to mitigate the severity of conflicts through balanced relations.
Which has strengthened UAE adoption of a moderate policy in international disputes.
In addition to presenting initiatives for reconciliation between the parties to intractable conflicts.
The Spirit of Brotherhood
The UAE has presented many initiatives to promote the culture of tolerance, coexistence, and rejection of extremism.
In February 2019, it hosted the “Global Conference on Human Fraternity“.
During the conference a historic document was signed aimed at activating dialogue, coexistence, and brotherhood.
The United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution declaring February 4 of each year as the “International Day of Human Fraternity”.
As a confirmation for the UAE’s soft power in international forums.
Climate change
In the meantime, the UAE has expanded its contributions to global issues, most notably climate change.
It is preparing to host the 28th session of the Conference of UNFCCC (COP28) in Dubai in November this year.
It is also making exceptional efforts to ensure the success of the conference.
