Online Merchants and Platforms Are Increasing Day after Day in the UAE.
The number of online merchants and platforms operating in the electronic trade of goods and services currently licensed in the UAE has reached 10,100 merchants and platforms.
This is according to recent indicators listed in the National Economic Register.
The online merchants and platforms operate in 13 diverse activities and commodities for consumers in various markets in the state.
However, the indicators showed that the largest share of online merchant licenses is concentrated in diversified trade.
Through social media, led by Facebook, with 4,875 licensed merchants.
Followed by those licensed to trade in general through websites, with 2,928 licensed merchants.
2,015 licensed merchants in electronic products trade and services.
The licenses varied in connection with the type of goods.
For example, the number of licensed merchants in electronic products trade and services reached 2,015.
While clothing and gifts electronic trade registered licenses are 91.
Followed by the household and personal appliances sale, with 70 licensed merchants.
In addition to online merchants in food commodities ant they reached 39 licensed merchants.
While the licensed merchants in the sale of electronic equipment and devices reached 28.
Electronic trade in travel activities reached 16 licenses, printing reached 13 licenses, and in the sale of gold and jewelry reached 12 licenses.
Mentioning that the number of online merchants in the sale of sports competition tickets recorded 8 licenses.
While vehicles and means of transportation recorded 6 licenses.
However, the number of companies working in the development of electronic trade reached 27 licensed merchants.

The licenses were distributed geographically within the UAE, according to the type of services and goods licensed.
The largest share of licenses in general, about 75%, is in Abu Dhabi, with a total of more than 7,600 licenses.

In addition to 2,828 licenses for diversified trade through websites.
While the other markets of the state recorded a greater focus on merchants in specialized goods and services.
Ras Al Khaimah included 2,100 licenses, the largest share of which was in electronic products and services online merchants with about 1,932 licenses.
Dubai included 116 licenses for electronic trade.
Where the licenses are in the sectors of selling printing, equipment and household appliances, jewelry, food, travel services and vehicles.
The rest of the licenses were distributed between the departments and economic zones in each of Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain.
With the most prominent being licenses for electronic trade in both electronic devices and diversified trade through websites and social media.
