World Future Energy Summit (WFES) in Abu Dhabi is highlighting the future leaders of sustainability through Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S) platform.
This initiative was launched by Masdar to showcase youth innovations in sustainability.
What are the Key Projects of Youth 4 Sustainability Platform ?
Marine Biodiversity Innovation
Maryam Almusaiebi and Sara Alhosani, students at Sheikha Bint Saeed Secondary School, created Strider.
Strider is an AI-powered platform to protect marine biodiversity.
It uses data from satellites, drones, and large datasets.
In order to predict and suggest solutions for marine biodiversity challenges.
Their project began in a robotics competition and later received support from Youth 4 Sustainability and the Environmental Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD).
Water Conservation through AI
Sixteen-year-old Alanood Alblooshi, a Masdar Sustainability Ambassador, developed Ain, an AI platform to monitor and reduce household water consumption.
Ain uses sensors in homes to track water use in real-time.
It provides predictive analysis to help manage consumption.
Alblooshi aims to expand Ain to include electricity management and collaborate with local utilities.
Solar and Wind Energy Solutions
Engineers Ali Al-Baiti, Hamad Albastiki, and Reem Alshamsi presented Noor.
Noor project is combining solar and wind energy with a unique storage system for off-grid energy solutions in rural Nigeria.
Their system includes solar panels, wind turbines, and lithium-ion batteries to provide up to six days of power.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, may God protect him, stressed that the UAE is a major supporter of international collective action to achieve sustainable development and prosperity for all. pic.twitter.com/KLQo2pVoy9

Hydroponics and AI: Sustainable Agriculture
Hatim Lachheb is from Morocco, he is 19 years old.
He leads a startup offering water-efficient agricultural solutions with AI-equipped hydroponic towers.
These towers monitor plant health, detect diseases, and optimize yields.
Optimizing Energy Access with AI
Nicolas Cuadrado, a PhD student at MBZUAI, is working on Cycle, a project to optimize energy access in isolated communities using AI.
Cycle aims to improve the efficiency of renewable energy systems, focusing on solar panels and batteries in sub-Saharan Africa.
Youth 4 Sustainability projects are innovative, diverse and impactful with their contributions to a greener future.
