Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s World Energy Day 2023 campaign

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) launched its annual campaign to promote World Energy Day.
Under the theme “World Energy Day: Your Path to COP28.”

The campaign focused on the importance of renewable and clean energy.
As well as energy conservation, and reducing carbon footprint to support the green economy.

Your Path to COP28 Campaign.

The campaign included a series of virtual lectures in Arabic and English.
Moreover, it included a large number of public and private educational institutions and attended by 11,238 students.

The lectures highlighted DEWA’s sustainable projects.
Which contributes to achieving the goals of Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050.
In addition to Dubai Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050.

DEWA’s renewable and clean energy projects support the UAE’s hosting of COP28.
Which will take place at Expo City Dubai from November 30 to December 12, 2023.

Key projects that contribute to achieving the goals of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park

  • Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world.
With a planned production capacity of 5,000
     MW by 2030.
  • A pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant in Hatta.
With a production capacity of 250 MW and a storage capacity of 1,500 megawatt-hours.
  • “Green Hydrogen Project” at Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
It is the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa.
Due to the fact that it produces hydrogen using solar energy.
  • The installation of more than 380 electric vehicle charging stations across Dubai as part of the “Green Charger” initiative.

Expected results of these projects

Reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 6.5 million tons per year by 2030.
In addition to providing 100% of power generation capacity from clean energy sources by 2050.

And finally, support green transportation in the UAE by encouraging the use of environmentally friendly electric vehicles.

In fact, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s World Energy Day 2023 campaign is an important step.
Because it is raising awareness of the importance of renewable and clean energy in the UAE.

These projects also contribute to achieving the goals of Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050.
As well as Dubai Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050, which support the country’s efforts to address climate change.
