United Arab Emirates Maintains Third Place Globally as Most Trusted in Innovation
The 2024 Edelman Trust Barometer reveals that the United Arab Emirates has retained its third-place ranking globally as one of the most trusted countries. Particularly in the area of innovation.
The latest report from the index, which surveyed 32,000 people across 28 countries, focused on innovation.
The results showed that the UAE is embracing innovation confidently, due to its long-term focus on this field.
The First Country to Appoint a Minister of Artificial Intelligence.
In contrast to the global hesitation towards implementing innovative solutions.
The UAE was the first country to appoint a Minister of Artificial Intelligence in 2017.
Furthermore, in 2019, it established Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence.
Which is the first research-based university specializing in this field at the graduate level.
Participants in the survey expressed their trust in the United Arab Emirates management of innovation.
In addition to the ability of all four institutions – government, businesses, NGOs, and media – to integrate innovation into society.
The government topped the list of trusted institutions with 82%.
Followed by businesses at 74%.
This contrasts with global survey results where businesses garnered the highest trust at 59%, followed by NGOs at 54% and government at 50%.
Innovation and Business Partnerships
The research findings also identified an opportunity for businesses to play a leading role in driving innovation.
Over the past decade, the demand for partnerships between businesses and governments regarding innovation has risen.

76% of survey participants from the United Arab Emirates stated the below:
“If there were more partnerships between the government and businesses, their trust in technology-driven change would increase.”

The Edelman Trust Barometer 2024 is the 24th annual survey measuring trust and credibility levels.
This research survey was conducted by the Edelman Trust Institute.
And it involved 30-minute online interviews carried out between November 3rd and 22nd, 2023.
