The Winners of Zayed Award for Human Fraternity 2024 include two Indonesian Islamic organizations.
Today, the Winners of Zayed Award for Human Fraternity were revealed and the award was shared by:
Nahdlatul Ulama:
Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) is an Islamic organization in Indonesia, founded in 1926 by Hasyim Asy’ari, a Muslim scholar and leader.
It is the largest Islamic organization in the world, with a membership of over 95 million people.
The organization’s main goals are to promote Islamic education and culture, to defend the interests of Muslims in Indonesia, and to foster interfaith dialogue.
Muhammadiyah:
Muhammadiyah is a modernist Islamic organization in Indonesia, founded in 1912 by K.H. Ahmad Dahlan, a Muslim scholar and reformer.
Moreover, it is one of the largest Islamic organizations in Indonesia, with a membership of over 30 million people.
The organization’s main goals are to promote Islamic education and social welfare, to modernize Islamic thought and practice, and to foster interfaith dialogue.
Sir Magdi Yacoub:
Sir Magdi Yacoub is a British-Egyptian cardiothoracic surgeon, best known for his pioneering work in heart transplantation.
He was born in Egypt in 1935 and studied medicine at Cairo University.
After completing his study, he has moved to the United Kingdom to continue his training, and he eventually became a consultant surgeon at Harefield Hospital in London.
Sir Magdi Yacoub is one of the world’s leading experts in heart transplantation and surgery.
Yacoub is also a strong advocate for humanitarian work.
Sister Nelly León Correa:
Known as “Mother Nelly,” Sister Nelly León Correa is president and co-founder of the “Mujer Levántate” Foundation.
Moreover, she has spent more than 25 years assisting detained women.
Her foundation is offering them support and training during their detention period.
It also helping them reintegrate into society once released from prison.
She has also established “Niños del Chile,” providing education and social services to underprivileged children in Chile.

The United Arab Emirates’ is Promoting Human Fraternity and Interfaith Dialogue.
Zayed Award for Human Fraternity is one of the most prestigious international awards.
As it is recognizing individuals and institutions contributing to the spread of human fraternity and interfaith dialogue.
The winners of Zayed Award for Human Fraternity for 2024 were chosen by an independent jury composed of distinguished figures in the field of peacebuilding and human rights.
A special ceremony for the winners will take place in Abu Dhabi on February 4, 2024, coinciding with the International Day of Human Fraternity.
