The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) in the UAE has issued a circular outlining the official work hours for federal government employees during the holy month of Ramadan 2025 (1446 AH).
This announcement aims to ensure a balance between professional responsibilities and the spiritual observance of Ramadan for federal employees.
Official Work Hours During Ramadan
According to the circular, the working hours for federal ministries and entities during Ramadan will be as follows:
- Monday to Thursday: 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM
- Friday: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
These hours apply to all federal government employees, except for those whose job roles require alternative schedules due to the nature of their work.
Flexible Work Policies
The FAHR has confirmed that federal ministries and entities may continue to implement their approved flexible work policies during Ramadan.
Provided they align with operational needs and adhere to the established guidelines.
This flexibility ensures that essential services remain uninterrupted while accommodating employees’ needs during the holy month.

Remote Work on Fridays
In a move to enhance work-life balance, the FAHR has also introduced the option for federal employees to work remotely on Fridays during Ramadan.
However, this is limited to a maximum of 70% of the total workforce in each entity, in line with approved regulations.
This measure aims to provide employees with greater convenience while maintaining productivity.
Aligning with UAE’s Vision
This initiative reflects the UAE leadership’s commitment to employee well-being and its efforts to foster a supportive work environment.
By accommodating the needs of employees during Ramadan, the government reinforces its dedication to maintaining productivity while respecting cultural and religious practices.

That allows them to fulfill their professional responsibilities while observing the holy month.
This move further solidifies the UAE’s reputation as a forward-thinking nation that prioritizes both efficiency and employee welfare.
