A Milestone in Green Hydrogen Production
Dubai green hydrogen project, launched by DEWA in May 2021, has successfully produced approximately 90 tons of green hydrogen.
A huge portion of this green hydrogen has been utilized to generate over 1 gigawatt-hour of clean electricity.
Using a hydrogen-powered engine, which resulted in a reduction of nearly 450 tons of carbon emissions.
Dubai green hydrogen project is a pioneering initiative in MENA region.
It produces about 20 kilograms of green hydrogen per hour hydrogen using solar energy.
300 Kilowatts of Electric Power
The hydrogen storage tank can hold up to 12 hours of hydrogen.
Mentioning that the plant uses hydrogen through a hydrogen-powered engine with a capacity of around 300 kilowatts of electric power.
The plant has been designed and built to accommodate future applications and testing platforms for various hydrogen uses.
Including power generation, aviation, land and sea transportation, and industry.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, stated:
“Following the insightful vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, we are working to enhance the UAE’s global leadership and competitiveness in the field of low-carbon hydrogen.”
How Can Dubai Green Hydrogen Project Support the National Strategy ?
Dubai green hydrogen project supports the UAE’s goal of securing 25% of the low-carbon hydrogen market share.
It also aligns with the nation’s efforts to diversify energy sources.
In order to achieve the National Hydrogen Strategy, Dubai’s Clean Energy Strategy 2050, and Dubai’s Carbon Neutral Strategy 2050.
Highlighting that those strategies aim to provide 100% of its energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050.
By implementing the green hydrogen project at Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the park will have a capacity of more than 5,000 megawatts by 2030.
DEWA will also achieve competitive prices for green hydrogen production.
Statistics on the Mozun platform indicate that the value of the e-commerce market in the UAE this year will exceed $11 billion, and is expected to reach $25 billion by 2029, with an annual growth rate of 12%. pic.twitter.com/O3zaP9VfeT

Global Attention
DEWA has set global records for the lowest prices of solar energy projects, making Dubai a benchmark for solar energy prices worldwide.
Dubai green hydrogen project is part of DEWA’s ongoing efforts to reduce the cost of green hydrogen production and storage.
Thereby lowering the cost of clean energy production and increasing its efficiency.
Investments and partnerships in green hydrogen are gaining global attention as it is a clean, carbon-free fuel that helps mitigate the effects of global warming.
