Water-Resilient Food Systems to be discussed in COP28 climate conference.
H.E Mariam Almheiri announced that the UAE and Brazil will host the first-ever Ministerial Dialogue on Building Water-Resilient Food Systems.
This is during the COP28 climate conference which the UAE will host in November.
This dialogue comes within the framework of the UAE’s focus on providing a comprehensive solution to the climate crisis.
Because it seems that our food systems are one of the largest contributors to climate change.
AlMheiri called for international cooperation and action in designing and implementing climate action mechanisms.
During the World Food Day conference, organized by the United Nations in the Italian capital, Rome.
Her Excellency AlMheiri called for international cooperation and action.
In order to design and implement climate action mechanisms.
Also she called for more international cooperation to address global food insecurity.
Her Excellency stressed that COP28 will focus on launching a new era of comprehensive food financing.

In her speech at the World Food Day conference, Her Excellency Almheiri said:
“The UAE, in its presidency of COP28, looks forward to cooperating.
And also to exchange knowledge and ideas to find a unified solution that ensures that no one is left behind.
We must remember the harsh realities that we will face if we fail to achieve water balance within our food systems.”
She added:
“The management of the rapid increase in food demand, production, distribution, and consumption is one of the biggest challenges we face in combating climate change.
This is something that the UAE will put at the top of its priorities for COP28.”
Her Excellency the Minister called on the world to sign “the UAE Declaration on Food Systems, Agriculture, and Climate Action”
Also to commit to aligning national food systems and agricultural strategies with nationally determined contributions.
As well as national adaptation plans, and national biodiversity strategies.
The UAE, in cooperation with Brazil, will host the first-ever Ministerial Dialogue on Building Water-Resilient Food Systems.
She added that during COP28 on December 10, the UAE, in cooperation with Brazil, will host the first-ever Ministerial Dialogue on Building Water-Resilient Food Systems.
This dialogue will bring together ministers, private sector companies and international organizations.
In addition to civil society to assess the resilience of water and food management within nationally determined contributions and national action plans.
The Ministerial Dialogue highlights the importance of addressing the climate crisis through more sustainable food systems.
Our current food systems contribute significantly to climate change, producing around 33% of all global greenhouse gas emissions.
The Ministerial Dialogue aims to catalyze international cooperation to develop sustainable solutions for food systems.
Also it is expected to produce a set of recommendations that can contribute to achieving the goals of COP28.
