600,000 Volunteers Are Creating Positive Change in Society
The Ministry of Community Empowerment reported that 600,000 volunteers contributed to creating positive change through their participation in events and activities, accumulating a total of 15 million hours of volunteer work.
The ministry emphasized the importance of promoting a culture of volunteering.
As it reflects the values of solidarity and mutual support within UAE society.
Additionally, it highlighted the volunteers’ role in advancing development across various sectors.
Moreover, The Ministry of Community Empowerment aims to strengthen the culture of volunteerism and supporting individuals.
As well as public and private institutions, to actively participate in this field.
It also seeks to foster innovation in the social sector.
Besides enhancing the contribution of various sectors to community empowerment and sustainable development.
How Does the Ministry of Community Empowerment Encourage Volunteer Work ?
To encourage greater community involvement in volunteer work, the ministry has launched several initiatives, including:
- Developing the skills and competencies of participants in volunteer programs and activities.
- Promoting collaboration and integration between government, private sector resources, and civil society organizations.
- Enhancing the spirit of participation and leveraging the potential of community members for development.
- Launching the National Volunteering Platform initiative.
New Strategic Goal
The ministry introduced a new strategic goal: “Encouraging positive citizenship and instilling a culture of giving and volunteering.”
It includes launching an index to measure the rate of giving in volunteer work nationwide.
The index will involve reviewing achievement reports from government entities on volunteer efforts and their impact on the behavior of giving.
As the strategic plan seeks to engage various community groups in volunteering activities.

One of the key initiatives under the ministry is the “UAE Volunteers” platform, a prominent volunteering hub in the UAE.
Developed by the Emirates Foundation in collaboration with the ministry.
The platform aims to reinforce the concept of social responsibility.
It aims to expand the scope of volunteer work by acting as a bridge between those interested in volunteering and the opportunities provided by public and private sector institutions.
