The First Biofuel Batch from Vitol – Fujairah.
Vitol, a global supplier of marine fuel, has announced the completion of the first delivery of biofuel in the emirate of Fujairah.
According to the Offshore Energy website, through its subsidiary Vitol Bunkers, two ships received low-sulfur fuel oil on December 8 and 14.
This was from the company’s refinery in Fujairah, blended with biofuel from regional sources at Vitol’s storage facilities.
In coincide with COP28, two ships received low-sulfur fuel oil from Vitol refinery in Fujairah.
In fact, the delivery coincided with the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) held in the city of Expo Dubai.
Which has ended with the historic UAE agreement.
In which the world agreed that there is an urgent need to decarbonize international shipping.
Mentioning that Biofuel plays an important role in reducing carbon emissions.
As well as greenhouse gas emissions from the maritime sector.
Vitol intends to expand biofuel supplies in Asia, and through its subsidiaries, it will be able to offer a range of biofuel blends.

The two ships that received the biofuel were both container ships.
While the biofuel was blended with low-sulfur fuel oil at a ratio of 10% biofuel to 90% fuel oil.
However, the biofuel source was the regional suppliers.
Including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia.
