United Arab Emirates University hosted the 26th Meeting of the Heads and Directors of Universities and Higher Education Institutions of the GCC at the Museum of the Future in Dubai.
With the participation of 37 universities and higher education institutions from the Gulf Arab countries.
A Scientific Chair, to be hosted by United Arab Emirates University.
The meeting aimed to enhance cooperation between Gulf universities.
In addition to supporting the joint cooperation between universities and higher education institutions to build a developed Gulf community.
It also agreed on the establishment of a scientific chair, to be hosted by United Arab Emirates University.
In order to activate the specialized research role and apply the highest research quality standards.
And also to provide the foundations for research creativity to generate knowledge, produce it, and employ it to contribute to the promotion of identity.
And prepare a distinguished generation of Gulf researchers and postgraduate students in various fields.
The meeting also agreed to form committees to discuss the achievements of the award.
And to explore the possibility of developing it to include several categories and fields.
While the 27th edition of the meeting will be in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, next year.
The meeting discussed the decisions of the Committee of Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the GCC.
In addition, it discussed the Gulf Information Base “Jisr”, joint working committees.
As well as the development of the award of the Committee of Heads and Directors of Universities and Higher Education Institutions of the GCC, among other topics.
Awards
- Dr. Hamad Al Jassmi from the College of Engineering at United Arab Emirates University won first place in the Education category.
- Dr. Ahmed Al Marshadi from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at United Arab Emirates University won second place in the same category.
- Dr. Ahmed Abdul Aziz Al Matouri, Head of the Medical Laboratories Department at the College of Applied Medical Sciences at Qassim University in Saudi Arabia, won in the category of Distinguished Researcher.

Winners’ comments
Dr. Hamad Al Jassmi said that the award came as a result of his development of modern and interactive digital curriculums.
As well as creative evaluation processes.
He added that the award comes as a culmination of the efforts towards achieving a knowledge-based economy.
Also, it is a translation of the interest of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in supporting scientists, researchers, and innovators.
It also aims to qualify competitive scientific cadres.
He pointed out that United Arab Emirates University provided him with the environment that motivates creativity in education.
And confirmed his determination to continue development in the field of education, in order to improve it.
Dr. Ahmed Abdul Aziz Al Matouri confirmed that the award motivates researchers to conduct solid scientific research.
And also to provide scientific solutions to national and international challenges, and enhance research and scientific awareness.
In addition, it highlights the importance and value of research work.
