UNESCO to Join the efforts of leading climate change to save the planet Earth in COP28.
H.E Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi, Minister of Culture and Youth, called on the member states of the UNESCO to join the UAE and its friends efforts to face climate change.
On the occasion of the country hosting COP28 from 30 November to 12 December in Expo City Dubai.

This came in the UAE’s speech, delivered by His Excellency Al Qassimi during the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Paris yesterday.
With the presence of ministers of education and culture from 195 countries around the world.
As well as representatives of international organizations.
His Excellency Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi said:
“We call on all member states of UNESCO to join us in this group of friends who are leading climate change to save the planet Earth.
During the United Arab Emirates’ hosting of COP28 conference at the end of this month in Dubai,”
He also referred to the UAE’s efforts in the field of environmental sustainability.
As well as its keenness to empower and train its citizens to be fully prepared to face the requirements of the digital age in which we live today.
Moreover, he touched on the country’s efforts to develop culture and education, and preserve heritage.
He also emphasized that the UAE government has developed its strategies in accordance with the requirements of the future.
Al Qassimi renewed the UAE’s support for UNESCO’s programs.
H.E Al Qassimi renewed the UAE’s support for UNESCO’s programs in preserving, maintaining, and restoring archaeological sites in the world.
As is the case in Iraq, when the organization launched a leading initiative called “Revive the Spirit of Mosul”.
Which aimed at rebuilding Al-Nuri Mosque and Al-Hadbaa Minaret along with two churches and other archaeological sites.
Since the UAE was the first funder and partner of this initiative, allocating more than $50 million to it.
His Excellency added:
“As we approach the sixth anniversary of the project, the final construction phase of Al-Nuri Mosque, Al Tahera Church and Our Lady of the Hour Church is upon us.
So we can complete this giant project, which has provided more than 2600 job opportunities for the people of Mosul.”
Al Qassimi invited the UNESCO General Conference participants to attend the activities of the Education, Culture, and Arts Conference – Abu Dhabi.
His Excellency emphasized that the UAE is harnessing all its capabilities to achieve sustainable development.
In addition to developing culture and education.
At the same time he invited all participants in the UNESCO General Conference to attend the activities of the Education, Culture, and Arts Conference.
Which will be held in mid-February in Abu Dhabi, and will seek to bring together stakeholders.
In order to reshape policies and guidance and formulate new ideas to enhance culture and arts education for future generations.
Noting that the UAE is harnessing all its capabilities to achieve sustainable development.
In regional and international affairs, His Excellency renewed the UAE’s call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, saying:
“The UAE renews its call for the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and to stop the bloodshed.“
