UAE Participates in Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin
The United Arab Emirates participated in the two-day Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) held in Berlin, Germany on June 11-12.
During the conference, the UAE expressed its commitment to the Ukrainian people, their recovery and reconstruction, and reaffirmed its ongoing efforts to find a peaceful solution to the conflict.
The UAE stressed the importance of diplomacy, dialogue, de-escalation, and mitigating the humanitarian repercussions of the crisis.
Her Excellency Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, led the UAE delegation at the conference.
She affirmed the UAE’s belief in the importance of maintaining communication channels with all parties.
She also highlighted the success of the UAE’s mediation in facilitating the exchange of prisoners for the fourth time since the beginning of this year, reflecting the country’s strong relations with both sides.
Commitment to Relationships Building
HE Reem Al Hashemi also reiterated the UAE’s commitment to building strong partnerships with Ukraine, including the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, a landmark achievement in bilateral relations.
She shed light on the UAE’s efforts, including the allocating of US$105 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
This includes food, medical supplies, ambulances, generators, laptops, and educational supplies to support civilians in Ukraine, especially children.
The UAE also announced its plans to provide support focused on improving the education and health systems in Ukraine, including women’s health and mental health.

HE Reem Al Hashemi held bilateral meetings on the sidelines of Ukraine Recovery Conference with:
- Ms. Olena Zelenska, First Lady of Ukraine and wife of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
- HE Thomas Baeger, Secretary General of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany
- HE Jens Plötner, Special Advisor for Foreign Policy and Security in Germany
HE Reem Al Hashemi was accompanied by HE Ahmed Al Attar, UAE Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany.
