Russian Ceasefire for Easter
In a notable development in the Ukraine war, Russia announced a unilateral ceasefire to mark Easter celebrations.
However, Ukraine responded with skepticism, accusing Moscow of manipulating human lives for political gain.
Russian President Vladimir Putin declared the ceasefire would begin at 6 p.m. Moscow time on Saturday and last until the end of Sunday.
He directed Russian military forces to halt combat operations during this period.
While maintaining readiness to respond to any Ukrainian violations.
However, the Russian forces reportedly launched new drone attacks on the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, targeting residential areas.
Russia also accused Ukraine of launching 10 attacks on Russian energy infrastructure within 24 hours.
Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched 8 missiles and 87 drones in the latest overnight assault, causing damage in five regions.
Ukrainian defenses reportedly shot down 33 drones and diverted 36 others using electronic warfare systems.
