The Union Association for Human Rights “UAHR” affirmed that the UAE has made peace, tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and human fraternity an integral part of its society, with high commitment to sharing these values and principles with the world.
UAHR Praises UAE Global Leadership in Peace and Tolerance
In a press statement marking the International Day of Conscience on April 5, the association highlighted the UAE’s remarkable progress on 2024 Global Peace Index, advancing 31 places according to the Institute for Economics and Peace in Sydney.
The country has launched global initiatives and awards to promote peace and tolerance, including:
- The Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence
- Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum World Peace Award
- The UAE Global Award for Poets of Peace
- Zayed Award for Human Fraternity
- Mohammed bin Rashid Award for Tolerance

Strengthening Stability
UAHR emphasized the UAE’s strategic role in stability and peace.
As the country is actively engaging in regional and international issues and global development initiatives
It marked that the UAE took the 10th position in the 2025 Global Soft Power Index.
Besides ranking among the top 10 countries worldwide in several areas, including:
- 4th in generosity and philanthropy
- 8th in overall international influence
- 9th in both international relations and diplomatic influence
Global Competitiveness and Human Rights
The UAE has excelled in global competitiveness indicators for 2024, strengthening institutional frameworks that protect human rights.
It took the 1st position in the region and 37th globally in the Rule of Law Index.
The UAE is also the 1st regionally and 7th globally in the Gender Equality Index and the 1st regionally and 6th globally in the Education Quality Index.

Zayed Humanitarian Legacy
In 2024, the UAE launched “Zayed Humanitarian Legacy” Initiative with a 20 billion AED fund to support global humanitarian efforts.
The UAE International Aid Agency also committed $100 million to the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty.
Since the union’s founding in 1971 until mid-2024, the UAE has provided 360 billion AED in foreign aid.
Significantly contributing to poverty reduction and peace culture promotion.
Additionally, UAE economic investments in conflict-affected countries—estimated at $50 billion by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for 2025—have supported global economic stability.
Empowering Women in Peace and Security
In June 2024, the UAE launched the 4th edition of the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Initiative for Women’s Empowerment in Peace and Security, focusing on:
- Empowering women in peace efforts
- Building networks among women in the military and peacekeeping fields
- Increasing female representation in peacekeeping forces

UAE Role in Global Peace
The UAE also played a key role in Sudan’s peace initiatives, providing $600.4 million in humanitarian aid to prevent an imminent famine since the crisis began.
UAHR also praised the UAE’s mediation efforts between Russia and Ukraine.
Those efforts have facilitated 13 prisoner exchanges involving a total of 3,233 prisoners since the conflict escalated in 2024.
The UAE has also successfully mediated the exchange of two detainees between the United States and Russia in December 2022.
The UAE has also submitted a resolution in May 2024 advocating for full UN membership for Palestine during an emergency General Assembly session.
This resolution received majority approval, marking a historic step toward peace and reinforcing the UAE’s global diplomatic leadership.
