Tourism officials in the UAE are planning on opening the doors of Dubai to tourists again next July. This comes after a long period of tourism suspension due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the official website of “The Sun”, Dubai will resume its tourism activity as of July 2020. It’s still not confirmed whether this includes all types of tourism or only domestic tourism. Generally speaking, multiple countries start allowing their domestic flights first after the outbreak of a virus.
Helal Saeed Al Marri, General Director of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, commented, “We want tourists to come back to the UAE as soon as possible. We also started discussing how the country can resume its tourism activity in spite of the fact that most countries still impose flight restrictions until now.”
Al-Marri added, “We only need to make sure we are prepared in case things are back to normal sooner than expected.”
It should be noted that tourism is one of the most important sources of income in the UAE. Last year, Dubai attracted more than 16.7 million tourists. This makes it a global hub for business and tourism.
