The UAE is training its armed forces to deal with any form of Nuclear Accidents. To train the armed forces a workshop for five days has already started and it would be discussing on the safety procedures and examining the radiation monitoring and also the ways of reducing the response time for any type of accident.
The five-day workshop being held at the Armed Forces Officers Club in Abu Dhabi is attended by government officials and representatives, top Emirati officers and also other GCC countries, the event is being held in cooperation with the United States.
The first nuclear power plant of the United Arabs Emirates is expected to begin with its supply of electricity towards the end of this year of the early months of next year. The authorities said that the construction of the Barakah Nuclear Plant located in Al Dhafra has reached the advanced stage of completion and the first reactors of the nuclear power plant is already done with its construction.
It is estimated that once all the four reactors start with their operations, the new power plant would be generating nearly a quarter of the electricity needs of the United Arabs Emirates. This would bring down the dependence of the country on gas power plants for its energy requirements. The gas power plants at the moment generate close to 98% of the energy of the country.
