The United Arabs Emirates declared to support the Peace Process in the Middle East and aimed to achieve stability in the region. The statement was confirmed by Obaid Salem Al Zaabi, UAE Permanent Representative to the United Nations, in Geneva during the 41st session of the Human Rights Council.
In the statement, the representative also highlighted the support for all the international and regional effort in order to end the occupation of Israel in Palestine and also for establishing the country of Palestine along with its capital in East Jerusalem. Additionally, he also mentioned of dismissing Article 7 at the request of several nations and affirmed the counter argument of UAE regarding the claim of Article 7 to be unfair, he added that the isolation of Israel from the International community was due to the occupation of Palestine and the violation of international conventions.
The reports revealed by the international relief agencies said that the amount of aid distributed to the Palestinians decreased significantly in 2018, this also caused to cancel or delay many humanitarian programmes this year.
While concluding his statement, he said the United Arabs Emirates is continuing with its support to the rights of the Palestinians and has also donated about $130 million as part of the humanitarian efforts of the country in 2017-2018.
