Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan participates in meeting on Sudan held in Djibouti
His Excellency Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of State, participated in the mediators’ meeting regarding the situation in Sudan.
The meeting took place in Djibouti and involved 32 countries and regional and international organizations.
During the meeting, discussions centered around international initiatives and efforts aimed at achieving peace in Sudan and creating a shared vision.
H.E Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan delivered an opening speech emphasizing the urgent need for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
He also called for facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid.
The UAE remains committed to diplomatic and humanitarian efforts to end the conflict in Sudan.
He stressed the importance of intensifying regional and international efforts to help Sudan overcome its challenges.
His Excellency highlighted that Djibouti meeting coincides with the ongoing difficult conditions the Sudanese people are facing.
Mentioning that the escalating humanitarian crisis and the threat of famine continue to endanger civilian lives.
He reiterated the UAE’s commitment to diplomatic and humanitarian efforts to end the conflict and its humanitarian consequences.
As immediate and coordinated responses are essential to meet the urgent needs of the Sudanese population.
$245 million Aid Since the Conflict Began in April 2023
Regarding aid, His Excellency explained the steps taken by Emirates to alleviate the humanitarian situation in Sudan and neighboring countries.
The UAE’s support has amounted to nearly $245 million since the conflict began in April 2023.
Additionally, Emirates Red Crescent supported Sudan and its friendly neighbor, Chad.
This is by establishing field hospitals in Chad to assist Sudanese refugees there.
His Excellency reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to all efforts and initiatives aimed at de-escalation and crisis resolution.

The UAE’s position remains steadfast: an immediate ceasefire is necessary, as there is no military solution to the conflict.
And the Sudanese parties must work toward a peaceful resolution through dialogue.
