The UAE sent an aid plane containing 7 tons of medical supplies to the Uruguay Republic, to support the efforts of 7,000 health workers to contain the new Coronavirus, which enumerates a renewal of relations between the two countries in the current crisis.
UAE sends medical aid to the Uruguay Republic to reinforce its efforts to combat corona
Said Rashid Rashid Obaid Saif Al Zaabi, the country’s ambassador to the Republic of Argentina, a non-resident ambassador in the Uruguay Republic: “The UAE has distinguished historical relations with Uruguay, and was characterized by the nature of friendship and harmony in political positions and cooperation in various fields.”
He added: “The dispatch of medical aid comes today to confirm the wise leadership of the UAE state, its keenness to develop and consolidate friendly relations and strengthen them at all levels with the Uruguay Republic, especially in the field of strengthening health and prevention efforts and supporting medical personnel.”
It is worth noting that to date, the UAE has provided more than 1046 tons of aid to more than 71 countries, which benefited more than a million medical workers.
Promote diplomatic cooperation between the UAE and the Uruguay Republic
The Emirates Diplomatic Academy signed a memorandum of understanding with the EDA, Uruguay’s Artigas Foreign Service Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Eastern Uruguay Republic, with the aim of developing and strengthening cooperation in the academic, training and research fields between the two parties, in an effort to develop professional skills among workers in the diplomatic corps.
UAE and Uruguay Republic partnership
The memorandum was signed by Nelson Jameel Shaban, Ambassador of the Eastern Uruguay Republic to the United Arab Emirates, and Bernardino Leon, Director General of the Emirates Diplomatic Academy, at the Academy headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
The Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two parties comes within the framework of strengthening relations between the diplomatic authorities in the country and the Eastern Uruguay Republic and based on the parties ’keenness to consolidate strategic partnership relations and cooperation between them in an effective manner to achieve the goals of the two parties and their national interests.
Mutual Experiences
Under the memorandum, the two parties will cooperate in the research field on strategic affairs of mutual interest, exchange experiences and information, and discuss modern training methods for diplomats and workers in the fields of foreign policy, international relations, international law, international trade, political science and other fields related to diplomacy.
Activate cooperation Training
The two parties will also activate cooperation in the field of basic and specialized training courses and the exchange of educational materials, including research, scientific publications and training manuals. The two parties will share their experiences related to organizing work in libraries, educational and research institutions and archives.
In addition to exchanging consultations on methods of teaching foreign languages and exchanging faculty members, researchers and trainees in areas of mutual interest, to update and enhance their professional skills.
On this occasion, Nelson said: “The signing of this memorandum is an important step towards strengthening fruitful international cooperation in the educational, training and research fields between our two countries, and we are proud of our partnership with the Emirates Diplomatic Academy, which has proven it’s worth and leadership in strengthening Emirati diplomacy.”
For his part, Bernardino Leon said: “We are honoured to host Nelson to sign this agreement, which reflects our keenness at the Emirates Diplomatic Academy to support and enhance cooperation with various international academic institutions. The Artigas Institute of Foreign Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay is one of the most respected institutions internationally in the field of diplomacy and international relations.
