UAE implements humanitarian initiatives for growth to achieve security & peace

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the ERC, said that the UAE is undertaking humanitarian and development initiatives to achieve security, peace and stability in areas of turbulence around the world under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Sheikh Hamdan added that progress has been made in the ERC programs and initiatives both within and outside the country in the current year, 2020, thanks to the help of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Governor of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE A

This is reflected in the scale of programs and projects carried out both within and outside the world, valued at over AED766 million from the beginning of the year until September, “said Sheikh Hamdan, spearheading the second meeting of the ERC Board of Directors in 2020, which took place remotely via video conferencing.”

“Philanthropists and sponsors have an vital role to play in funding the programs and initiatives of the ERC,” he said, while praising the role of volunteers in funding the ERC ‘s humanitarian and growth programs.

Initiatives and programs for a bright future

At the meeting , the Board of Directors of the ERC reviewed reports sent by the Secretary-General on the successes of the Authority and the initiatives and projects carried out both inside and outside the country over the past nine months, priced at AED766.296.354.

The cost of the projects launched outside the UAE was AED583,751,531, including AED87,944,163 for relief services and operations in many countries, while the expense of its foreign development projects amounted to AED257,265,728, in addition to AED238,541,640, which is the cost of the development projects carried out within the UAE.

On the local front, from January to September 2020, the ERC’s Board of Directors reviewed the social assistance given to Emirati recipients, estimated at AED182,544,823 and benefiting two million people, in addition to the aid provided to people impacted by the country’s COVID-19 pandemic. There were 305 programs carried out under this system, benefiting 26,159 individuals.
