UAE Professional League & Israeli Premier League Sign MOU

Within the framework of the UAE Professional League’s keenness to strengthen its relations and bonds of friendship and cooperation with other football links around the world to achieve further steps of progress, development and success, the UAE Professional League signed a memorandum of understanding with the Israeli Premier League, aiming to serve the popular game in both countries. This came in a signing ceremony held on Monday morning, October 26th, with a “remote” visual communication system attended by Abdullah Naser Al-Junaibi, president of the UAE Professional League, and Erez HALFON, president of the Israeli Premier League.

The announcement of this sporting move, which is the first of its kind in the Middle East, comes within the framework of cooperation to increase the success and development of the football in the UAE and Israel.

In this regard, Abdullah Naser Al-Junaibi, President of the UAE Professional League, said, “Following the approach of wise leadership and the principles of humanity established by the founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God have mercy on him, the UAE Professional League is pleased to announce today the signing of a cooperation and partnership agreement with the Israeli Premier League.

The United Arab Emirates has proven over the decades that it is the homeland of tolerance and meeting place for the peoples of the world. This agreement will contribute to enhancing peace opportunities and confirming bonds of cooperation and friendship in the interest of football in both countries.

Al-Junaibi added,Football approach between peoples in a fast way, and these are bonds of cooperation aim for through this agreement, through which we hope to achieve many common gains.

Football is in addition to developing administrative and technical work. We also aim to organize joint activities between the two countries, and to confirm cooperation in a way that enhances the economic-commercial-sports aspect between the two sides.

Erez HALFON, President of the Israeli Premier League, said: “Football is the most popular sport not only in the world, but also in Israel and the United Arab Emirates. The passion for football passes through religions, nations and peoples, and together we are able to harness this passion. To build relationships and break walls between people of all genders and ethnicity. I am proud and excited to participate in this event in which we sign an agreement that forms a bridge between Israeli football and football in the United Arab Emirates.”

This agreement will not only be a bridge between football clubs, but it will also be the starting point for a series of business and technology initiatives, and above all – it will be a bridge to develop social and cultural ties between the two peoples.

He added, “The teams in both Leagues UAE Professional League & Israeli Premier League have been working for some time to develop plans for future cooperation in the fields of football promotion, technology in the sports field, and social and commercial cooperation alike, and it seems that there are common factors that unite us more than separate us. It is worth noting that the UAE Professional League was established in 2008, and in 2019 it joined the World Football League Forum, which had a major role in strengthening relations between the UAE and Israeli Premier League.
