UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Will Visit South Korea for Two Days
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), will visit South Korea on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, upon the invitation of President Yoon Suk Yeol.
During the visit, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed will discuss with Korea President Yoon Suk Yeol the following:

Strengthening ties of friendship and cooperation:
The two leaders will explore ways to further enhance the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between the UAE and South Korea. -
Expanding collaboration across various sectors:
Discussions will focus on expanding bilateral cooperation in key areas such as trade, investment, energy, and technology.

Advancing strategic partnership:
The visit aims to reinforce the UAE-South Korea strategic partnership, aligned with their shared visions for future development, prosperity, and sustainability. -
Addressing regional and international issues:
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and President Yoon will also exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Landmark visit in bilateral relations:
This upcoming visit by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed marks a significant milestone in the 44-year history of UAE-South Korea relations.
Moreover, it comes amidst the momentum of flourishing relations between the two friendly nations.
Mentioning that the UAE stands as the first Middle Eastern country to establish a special strategic partnership with South Korea.
Since the establishment of the special strategic partnership, collaboration between the UAE and South Korea has expanded beyond the political realm.
Now the collaboration encompasses economic cooperation, nuclear cooperation, climate change, cybersecurity, food security, defense, healthcare, culture, governance, and space.
Strong Ties
The UAE and South Korea enjoy strong ties across various levels.
However, the strong ties are evident in the ongoing dialogue and the regular exchange of high-level visits.
The visits include President Yoon’s visit to the UAE in January 2023, which witnessed agreements to further strengthen strategic cooperation in all fields.

In June 2023, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Cooperation, and H.E. Park Jin, then-Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Korea, co-chaired the inaugural session of the Strategic Dialogue between the two countries’ foreign ministries.
This dialogue serves as an outcome of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed official visit to South Korea in 2019.
