Today, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE President, performed funeral prayers on the body of the Great Deceased Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan at the Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed First Mosque in Abu du Dhabi.
His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council member, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah, also performed the prayer.
UAE President Mourns the Late Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan on X Platform
In his account on “X” platform, His Highness said:
“May God have mercy on the father, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Muhammad Al Nahyan.
And may he rest in peace and inspire us with patience and solace.
With his passing, we lost one of the nation’s loyal men, and one of the Late Sheikh Zayed’s companions, for decades before and after the union.
He left our world, leaving a rich record of wisdom.
In addition to sincere and inspiring work in the service of the Emirates and its people.”
About Sheikh Tahnoun:
- He held the position of Ruler’s Representative in the Eastern Region of Abu Dhabi Emirate.
- He was an Emirati royal family member and businessman.
- He previously served as Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
- He was Chairman of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
- He was Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Petroleum Council.
- He was one of the first companions of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and played a significant role in the formation of the United Arab Emirates.
- He passed away on May 1st, 2024.
- The road from Al Ain to Dubai was renamed in his honor.
