His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on behalf of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation opened the Zayed Centre for Research into Rare Diseases in Children in London.
The Zayed Center for Research was made possible following a donation of 60 million pounds from Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. This center is a collaborative partnership with the University College London, the Great Ormond Street Hospital,GOSH, UCL, and the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
The new research includes many research laboratories for facilitating the scientists to research the rare diseases and also to develop novel treatments. The center also has a Flow Cytometry suite equipped with laser technologies for counting and analysis and storing of the cells, it also consists of the latest scanning equipment and advanced equipment for fast detection of genetic conditions.
His Highness Sheikh Theyab said that the Zayed Research Center for Research into Rare Diseases in Children would be working to facilitate advanced treatments and cures for children with an aim to boost groundbreaking outcomes so that it could benefit more and more children. He said that the group was thankful to the center for making amazing efforts in order to protect the well being of the future generations.
The Zayed Center for Research into Rare Disease in Children expects to see about hundreds of researchers and clinicians to come together under one roof for advanced treatments for children with complex and rare diseases. The new research center which is a gift from Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, would be welcoming its first patient towards the end of this year.
