The UAE Media Council and Google concluded the first phase of the Media Leadership Training Program at Google’s regional headquarters in Dubai Media City, in partnership with the Google News Initiative and Upskill Digital.
Mentioning that over 50 media leaders and journalists from media organizations and digital platforms attended the event.
The UAE Media Council and Google Are Investing in Media Skills
Mohammed Saeed Al Shahi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, emphasized the importance of investing in the skills and developing the capabilities of media cadres to ensure they keep pace with the rapid developments in the global media landscape.
“We are pleased to collaborate with Google News to organize a workshop aimed at empowering media leaders in the UAE with new skills that support their professional careers, contribute to the development of media institutions, and enhance their ability to compete globally,” Al Shahi said.
He pointed out that this workshop represents the first step in cooperation with Google.
And there will be a series of workshops that will follow on the uses of generative artificial intelligence in newsrooms.
As well as video creation strategies for content creators, and other new digital skills.
Which support media workers and contribute to enhancing their productivity and efficiency.
Google’s Commitment
The workshop was presented by experts from Google News Initiative and Upskill Digital.
It included a number of media leaders in the country and shed light on a number of important topics.
Such as how media outlets attract the target audience, measure impact, increase news audience on the YouTube platform, and develop revenue.

As well as the methods and techniques to develop, edit and publish skills in the digital world using different technologies.
With the aim at enhancing the skills of media leaders in using Google journalist’s products and tools.
