UAE-Japan Historic Cooperation:
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s President, expressed his commitment to enhancing the relations between UAE and Japan.
This is by launching talks today aimed at achieving UAE-Japan comprehensive economic partnership agreement.
Mentioning that the UAE and Japan have a longstanding history of strategic cooperation across various levels.
Launching those talks aims at opening new avenues of developmental partnership.
In addition to supporting sustainable economic growth and prosperity for both nations and their people.

“Building on our longstanding history of strategic cooperation, the UAE and Japan today agreed to launch talks aimed at reaching a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
We look forward to strengthening our bilateral ties and exploring new opportunities that support sustainable economic growth for both countries.”
Shared Vision:
The launch of these talks between UAE and Japan reflects mutual eagerness.
As well as a shared vision to elevate their relationship to new levels of developmental partnership.
The agreement will support economic diversification, innovation, and investment.
By providing additional opportunities for business communities in both countries.
Japan’s Prime Minister’s Response:
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida confirmed the importance of initiating these talks.
He looks forward to an ambitious, balanced, and comprehensive economic partnership agreement between Japan and the UAE.
Additionally, he emphasized the significance of the Japan-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Free Trade Agreement.
That will be discussed alongside the Japan-UAE talks, in enhancing economic relations.
Significance of UAE-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Talks:
This initiative falls within the framework of the CEPA launched during the visit of Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Japan in September 2022.
Moreover, the UAE’s strategy aims to expand its network of trading partners globally under the “Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements Program”.
This program plays a pivotal role in sustainable economic growth and diversification.
The UAE is Japan’s top trading partner in the Arab world, receiving around 40% of Japan’s exports to Arab countries.

While non-oil trade between the two countries continued to thrive.
Reaching $8.1 billion in the first half of 2024 and totaling $17.3 billion by the end of 2023 (a 17.4% increase compared to 2022).
The UAE and Japan are embarking on talks to establish a comprehensive economic partnership, building upon their flourishing trade relations.
