This commitment is reflected in UAE initiatives and strategies, aimed at improving health and stability.
Expansion Plans
The UAE has recently enhanced its support with a new donation of 220 million AED.
This donation comes from Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives to Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation.
Raising total support to about 320 million AED.
This funding will help expand the foundation’s capabilities and improve healthcare services.
Global Hospitals
The UAE has launched several international programs to fight cardiovascular disease.
One from UAE initiatives is the Emirati Global Hospitals Program, launched under the “Zayed Humanitarian Legacy” initiative.
It aims to build 10 specialized hospitals with a total investment of around 550 million AED.
The first one is UAE Heart Hospital in Indonesia.
It is under construction and will offer critical heart care to thousands of patients.
In Pakistan, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Heart Institute in Quetta, inaugurated in 2022 with funding from Abu Dhabi Development Fund.
It serves as a key center for heart disease treatment in the region, offering specialized services to over 12 million people.
Healthcare Support
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives focuses heavily on healthcare and disease prevention.
They have helped 9.4 million people globally in 2023.
The organization spent 209 million AED on various health initiatives, a significant increase from the previous year.
Other UAE Initiatives
- Al Jalila Foundation: Since 2013, it has supported 8,768 medical cases, including children with life-threatening conditions.
- Hope Makers Initiative: Raised 88 million AED for Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation in Cairo, supporting treatment for patients in need.
- Sheikha Latifa Bint Hamdan Unit: Established for free heart catheterization surgeries for children and the less fortunate in the Arab world.

Notably,”Pulses” initiative, sponsored by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, provides free surgeries for children with congenital heart defects and treated 1,027 children in 2023.
The UAE regularly hosts global conferences on heart diseases.
