Andreas Mountzouroulias: UAE helps 119 Countries in Fight against Coronavirus

Andreas Mountzouroulias told, exclusively, UAE Voice that the UAE is providing humanitarian aid to other nations to ease their suffering and help them rehabilitate. The number of countries that the UAE helped to confront and control the spread of the COVID-19 reached 119 countries, which received more than 1,592 tons of medical supplies and personal protection equipment benefiting 1.592 million medical workers in these countries.

The virus, which originated in Wuhan, China, in December last year, has now spread to more than 200 countries and territories. In response, the UAE continues to do everything it can to support the international community.

The Humanitarian Efforts of UAE During COVID-19

The UAE established a preventative health center in the Emirates Humanitarian City complex to provide 24-hour health care for citizens of neighboring countries evacuated from Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in China.

Emirates Humanitarian City has been set up as per the highest standards of medical infrastructure to facilitate high-quality care for individuals admitted, ensuring their privacy and dignity. It provides indoor and outdoor recreation facilities for its inhabitants. All individuals are provided with adequate medicines, food and other essential items.

We must thank the United Arab Emirates for their help. Without their support, the situation would be more difficult.

Greece is an example of how generous Emirates is

For example, in my country, Greece, the United Arab Emirates donated eleven tons of medical supplies. According to the Greek government, the supplies and equipment will become immediately available to hospitals around the country to help meet the needs of the fight against COVID-19.

The supplies included—among other things—special coveralls for medical protection, medical gloves and sanitizers.

The assistance comes at the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi & Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor of the UAE. It confirms the close relationship of the UAE with Greece. A relationship that began as economic cooperation, but thanks to the trust that was developed, it evolved into a strong bond.

Also Emirates donates tons of medical supplies to Iran. The UAE dispatched two urgent relief planes carrying 32 tons of medical supplies and relief equipment to support Iran’s ongoing efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19. Earlier too, the UAE facilitated a mission by the World Health Organization to deliver 7.5 tons of medical supplies and equipment to Iran in a bid to help contain the new coronavirus.

Also, the UAE donated tons of medical supplies to:

USA:

Working with the US embassy in Abu Dhabi, the UAE government repatriated 25 American citizens after the global aviation shutdown in March.

UK:

Emirates has helped turn ExCeL London, the UK capital’s largest exhibition venue, into an emergency field hospital.

Pakistan:

On April 18, 227 Pakistanis were repatriated from Dubai with help from the Emirati government.

Italy:

On April 5, an aid aircraft left the UAE carrying more than 13 tons of medical supplies bound for Italy.

South Korea:

On March 19, the UAE helped evacuate 80 people from Iran in response to a request by the South Korean government.

China:

In the early stages of the outbreak, Emirates was one of the first donors to offer medical aid to China.

To conclude, the UAE helps also many countries in fight against coronavirus
