Abu Dhabi University launches “For Sudan initiative”

Abu Dhabi University in cooperation with the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, and under the auspices of the Lulu Group International and PepsiCo, launched an initiative entitled “For Sudan initiative”, to collect donations in cash and in-kind for the sake of Sudan, with the aim of alleviating the suffering of the affected families, as a result of the strong floods that swept across the various states of Sudan Over the past weeks.

The launch of the For Sudan initiative was attended by Muhammad Amin Al-Karib, the Sudanese ambassador to the state, representatives of the Office of the Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent, the champion of the Arab Reading Challenge in its last session, Hadeel Anwar, Professor Wakar Ahmed, Director of Abu Dhabi University, and Salem Mubarak Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of Community Relations at the University. In addition, the volunteers in the first line of defence from Abu Dhabi University students participated in organizing the initiative.

Salem Al Dhaheri said: “The For Sudan initiative aims to provide assistance and support to Sudanese people, due to their suffering from the floods, with the partnership with the Red Crescent.

The For Sudan initiative will have a great impact to bear fruit and achieve its goals in alleviating the suffering.

The affected people, stressing that this For Sudan initiative translates our commitment to our social responsibility not only locally, but towards our brothers everywhere.

For his part, Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri, Deputy Secretary-General for Local Affairs at the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, stressed that the campaign of the For Sudan initiative comes as part of the UAE humanitarian efforts exerted at the state level to ward off the effects of torrents and floods in Sudan.

He said: The Red Crescent Authority always welcomes the For Sudan initiative of its humanitarian partners in the country to establish such events that enhance areas of human solidarity with victims of disasters and crises.

Al-Mansouri stressed that the campaign of the For Sudan initiative strengthens the Red Crescent’s response to those affected by the floods in a number of Sudanese states.
