The UAE football team has made a huge progress in its matches at the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
Its latest victory against Qatar was praised internationally, especially by FIFA.
After their decisive victory over Qatar in the sixth round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) stated that the UAE national football team has made an important step towards its qualification to FIFA World Cup.
Highlighting that this is the first time in 36 years that UAE team reaches to a milestone like this.
UAE Football Team Matches in FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers 2026:
The UAE team have secured a strong position in the qualifiers, due to the following victories:
- October 11, 2023: UAE 2-1 Kyrgyzstan
- November 13, 2023: UAE 3-0 China
- March 28, 2024: UAE 1-1 Uzbekistan
- June 12, 2024: UAE 2-2 Iraq
- November 14, 2024: UAE 3-0 Kyrgyzstan
Adding that the UAE team achieved a 5-0 win against Qatar in the match of yesterday, Tuesday, at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Fabio Lima scored 4 goals (“super hat-trick”), while his teammate Yahya Al-Ghassani scored the fifth goal.

FIFA considered this match to be Fabio Lima’s true emergence within the UAE team, contributing to the largest defeat for Qatar since 2007.
This victory leaves the UAE just 3 points behind Uzbekistan, who are in second place in the group.
Fabio Lima: “If we keep playing like this, we will have a chance to qualify for the World Cup.”
The official FIFA account quoted Lima saying that he is happy to secure the three points on UAE soil.
He also mentioned that the UAE football team played a fantastic match.
Lima added:
“This is our best match in the qualifiers, and we must continue at this level.
If we keep playing like this, we will have a chance to qualify for the World Cup.”
