His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, expressed his sincere condolences and deep sympathy to the Islamic Republic of Iran, its leadership, and its people on the death of President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and their companions in a tragic accident.
His Highness, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, wrote on his official X account:
“I extend my deepest condolences to the Iranian government and people over the passing of President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and those accompanying them following a tragic accident.
We pray that God grants them eternal rest, and we extend our heartfelt sympathies to their families.
The UAE stands in solidarity with Iran at this difficult time.”
Officially, Iran announced the death of President Ibrahim Raisi.
Iran announced today, Monday, the deaths of President Ibrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials.
This was after their helicopter crash in East Azerbaijan Province, northwest Iran, on Sunday.
The helicopter crashed in the rugged mountainous area of Jolfa due to adverse weather conditions and thick fog.
The helicopter accident occurred during the return of President Raisi from an event he attended on Sunday morning with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, to inaugurate a joint dam on the Aras River, which forms the border between the two countries.
After a challenging search operation, Iran announced the deaths of the Iranian President and his companions.
The operation involved dozens of rescue teams amidst dense fog and strong winds.
About Ebrahim Raisi
The Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi, is 63 years old.
He was born in the city of Mashhad in November 1960 and held public positions at an early age.
He was appointed as a public prosecutor in the city of Karaj, near the capital Tehran, when he was in his twenties, shortly after the Iranian Revolution in 1979.
Raisi spent about three decades in the judicial authority structure of Iran.
He was moving between several positions, including the public prosecutor of Tehran between 1989 and 1994 and the deputy head of the judiciary from 2004 until 2014.

He quickly became the head of the Iranian judiciary, specifically in 2019.
During his electoral campaign, he raised the slogan confronting “poverty and corruption,” the same principle on which he based his presidential campaign in 2017, obtaining 38% of the votes.
The conservative candidate Raisi won the presidential election with 62% of the votes in 2021.
After ascending to the presidency in 2021, he spent three years as the eighth president of Iran.
