Achievements of UAE Cycling Team in Portugal and France
Rui Costa, a cyclist of the UAE cycling team, won the Portuguese road racing championship for the second time in his sports career, beating his rival Daniel Mestre after a long, enthusiastic speed race.
UAE Cycling Team at the top of Portugal
Costa said: “It was a very special victory for the UAE Cycling Team, to which my colleagues Roy and Evo Oliveira, who made every effort to support him, performed well, and it wasn’t easy to win in Portugal because there were so many teams with large numbers of competing riders.”
He added that they worked hard in order to be at the level of competition, and at the end of the race I managed to start with my maximum potential and passed the finish line in the lead on my own merit.”
This is the second victory for Rui Costa, this season, as he had previously won the first stage of the Saudi tour, last February.
UAE Cycling Team achievement
The UAE Cycling Team also achieved another achievement in parallel in France, after Tady Bogachar managed to win third place, in the final stage of the Criterium de Dauphine, which spanned a distance of 153.5 km and included 8 climbing distances.
Slovenian Bogachar set off in an offensive performance, 27 km from the finish line, along with a group of 3 riders, Sepp Kos, Pavel Sivakov and Daniel Martinez.
Bogachar crossed the finish line third, 30 seconds behind winner Koss, to climb to fourth in the overall ranking, 56 seconds behind competitor Martinez, who is ranked top.
David de la Cruz also managed to win the mountain classification title with a total of 68 points, beating his rival Julian Alaveliph, who won 16 points.
The Cycling Union forms the elections and appeals committees
The Board of Directors of the Cycling Union, in its meeting held by remote visual communication technology, headed by Osama Ahmed Al Shafar, discussed arrangements for holding elections for the new board of directors, which will take over the leadership of the federation in the period 2020-2024.
