Taking Concrete Steps to Rescue the Palestinian Cause
The UAE affirmed the need to reset the compass of international action towards a set of fundamental principles that cannot be deviated from.
And also to rescue the Palestinian cause from the vicious circle.
By taking concrete steps to establish an independent Palestinian state.
Basic Principles to Reset the Compass of International Action
H.E Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, addressed the United Nations General Assembly in its 79th session yesterday.
He stated that among the most important basic principles to reset the compass of international action is to:
- Unify positions on all contentious issues
- Support all peoples without double standards
- Ensure the protection of civilians
- Uphold the rule of law
- Commit to human rights
- Respect the principles of good neighborliness.
He said:
“If we want to rescue the Palestinian cause from the vicious circle it has been revolving in for seven decades.
We must take concrete steps to establish an independent Palestinian state.
With East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the two-state solution.”
The Optimal Choice
He pointed out that adherence to the principles of tolerance and peaceful coexistence is the solution to extinguish the sparks of conflicts before they ignite.
He added that the UAE believes that diplomacy is the best option:
“We cannot extinguish fire with fire.
When traditional methods fail, it is our duty to renew them so we can move in the darkest moments of history.”

He reiterated the UAE’s demand for Iran to end its occupation of the three UAE islands “Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Musa.
He also urged it to resolve the issue through direct negotiations.
Or by referring the matter to the International Court of Justice.
He pointed out that the UAE’s renewal of its demands reflects its firm commitment to international laws and justice.
And that ending the occupation of the islands is a step toward regional stability.
