UAE and Solomon Islands are expanding mutual cooperation across all fields
H.E Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and Jeremiah Manele, Prime Minister of Solomon Islands, inaugurated the new Solomon Islands Embassy in Abu Dhabi yesterday.
Alongside embassy members and a number of businesspeople.
Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi and Jeremiah Manele unveiled a plaque to mark the official opening of Solomon Islands’ diplomatic mission in Abu Dhabi.
In the presence of Cornelius Alejeria, Solomon Islands’ Ambassador to the UAE, and several foreign diplomats accredited to the UAE.
Al Zeyoudi emphasized that the opening of the new embassy reflects both countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
In addition, it is expanding mutual cooperation across all fields.
He described the event as a significant milestone in the flourishing relations between the two friendly nations.
The UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund
His Excellency noted that the two countries have shared increasingly fruitful trade and investment ties.
Since diplomatic relations were established between the United Arab Emirates and Solomon Islands in 2010.
He pointed out that 2023 saw a 71% increase in non-oil bilateral trade compared to the previous year.
Reaching $3 million, with Solomon Islands’ exports to Emirates growing more than fourfold.
This boost has helped strengthen local industries, including fishing and forestry.
Al Zeyoudi also mentioned that the UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund contributed to the development of a solar power station, built and operated by Masdar in Solomon Islands.

Boosting Collaboration
For his part, Jeremiah Manele, Prime Minister of Solomon Islands, said in his speech on the occasion of the embassy’s opening:
“The new embassy in Abu Dhabi will contribute to enhancing bilateral relations between the two friendly nations.”
He praised the cooperation between Solomon Islands and the UAE in various fields.
Also, he affirmed his country’s keenness to broaden their collaboration to serve the mutual interests of both nations.
