UAE and Russia called for URGENT UN Security Council meeting on Gaza hospital bombing

The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the Israeli attack on the Baptist Al-Ahli hospital in Gaza Strip.UAE and Russia called for Urgent UN Security Council Meeting.

The UAE and Russia have called for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East.
Especially the Palestinian status, following the airstrike on a hospital in Gaza.

This comes shortly after the bombing of the Baptist Al-Ahli hospital in Gaza Strip.
Which killed and injured hundreds of people on the 11th day of the war between Israel and Hamas.

Moreover, the bombing of the hospital came on the eve of a visit by US President Joe Biden to Israel on Wednesday.

The White House announced that Biden will travel from Israel to Amman.
In order to meet the Jordanian King Abdullah II and Palestinian and Egyptian Presidents Mahmoud Abbas and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, respectively.

According to eyewitnesses, hundreds of families were in the hospital.
As they had fled their homes and sought refuge in the hospital, which is under international law protection.
In addition to patients and the wounded, which could raise the death toll and the number of injured.

The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the Israeli attack on the Baptist Al-Ahli hospital in Gaza Strip.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its deep sorrow for the loss of life.
It also extended its condolences to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery to all the injured.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
The Ministry also stressed on avoiding targeting civilians and civilian institutions.

It emphasized the importance of ensuring that civilians on both sides are fully protected under international humanitarian law.
As well as the international treaties that protect civilians and human rights.
It also stressed that civilians should not be a target of the conflict.

UAE and Russia called for Urgent UN Security Council Meeting.

Following the airstrike on the Baptist Al-Ahli hospital in Gaza City.
The United Arab Emirates and Russia have called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on October 18.

A statement from the UAE mission to the UN said:
“The UAE and Russia have called for an emergency open meeting of the UN Security Council on the morning of October 18 on the bombing of the Gaza hospital.”

The statement added:
“We strongly condemn the bombing of the Gaza hospital.
Which is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and a war crime.
We call on all parties to immediately cease hostilities and respect international humanitarian law.”
