
UAE and Afghanistan are discussing strengthening mutual cooperation
The work of the first session of the political consultations committee between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Afghanistan, which was held remotely through visual communication technology to discuss the relations between UAE and Afghanistan.
UAE and Afghanistan Bilateral Relations
The UAE side was headed by the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Political Affairs, His Excellency Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, while the Afghan side was headed by His Excellency Mirwais Knapp, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs.
During the consultations, they reviewed the experience of the two countries in combating COVID-19, the UAE’s humanitarian efforts its help to the affected countries, and the importance of solidarity and international cooperation in limiting the effects of the pandemic.
The two sides reviewed the development of bilateral relations and joint cooperation between the two countries, and ways to enhance and develop them. They also dealt with current regional and international developments and developments, and the two sides positions towards them.
Peace carpet initiative between UAE and Afghanistan
The two sides discussed the latest developments in the Afghan peace talks, besides regional and international issues of common interest, in a way that contributes to conveying converging views to the international community, and in a way that serves the issues and challenges on the regional and international arenas.
Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi discussed with the Afghan Minister the hosting of the Emirati-Afghan Cultural Days in Abu Dhabi, to build bridges of communication, developing cultural communication tools, exchanging artistic and cultural experiences, and intellectual and knowledge dialogue, and forming a window on the culture, heritage and history of the two countries, and introducing the archeology and history of Afghanistan to the local public in the UAE.
She appreciated the Peace Carpet initiative launched by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to promote a culture of peace and hope among women in Afghan society, and to support the rights of Afghan children and women in education, health, and a decent life.
