The French Economy Minister “Bruno La Maire” has confirmed again that France trusts The UAE hosting for COP28 based on the fact that the UAE has always provided solutions to face the climate change.
According to a joint statement issued during the African Energy Forum in Nairobi.
Kenyan President William Ruto and Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, the UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and the appointed President of COP28 have stated:
“climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing the world today.
It is requiring continued action to achieve the highest ambitions in the outcomes of the Nairobi African Climate Summit and COP28″.
Remembering that The UAE has implemented several sustainable development initiatives addressing the challenges related to climate change.
Some examples of these initiatives include:
1. Masdar City: This is a sustainable urban development initiative that aims to create a zero-carbon city in Abu Dhabi.
Moreover The city is powered by renewable energy and features green buildings, smart transportation systems, and sustainable waste management practices.
2. Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050: This initiative aims to make Dubai a global hub for clean energy and reduce the carbon footprint of the emirate.
Therefore the strategy includes a target of generating 75% of Dubai’s energy from clean sources by 2050.
3. Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week: This is an annual event that brings together policymakers, business leaders, and experts to discuss sustainable development and showcase innovative solutions.
4. Renewable Energy Investments: The UAE has made significant investments in renewable energy.
In brief they include the construction of the world’s largest solar power plant, the Noor Abu Dhabi, which has a capacity of 1,177 MW.
