The UAE’s leadership in establishing partnerships was showcased by the UAE delegation to the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2024.
These partnerships have a sustainable impact on government development, economic growth, and societal progress.
The UAE’s “Government Experience Exchange Programme” organized a pivotal session on the central role of strategic bilateral partnerships at the international level in accelerating the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) unanimously adopted by the United Nations for 2030.
The discussion emphasized the UAE’s efforts in international cooperation and sharing successful models.
Mentioning that the efforts are aligning with SDG 17, which focuses on “Partnerships for the Goals.”
The UAE’s leadership in knowledge exchange partnerships with over 37 countries and governments worldwide.
The session aimed to document the global impact of the Government Knowledge Exchange Program.
Highlighting its role in achieving the targets outlined in SDG 17, which pertains to global partnerships for sustainable development.
Involving governments, the private sector, and civil society.

- Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development

Impactful partnerships role in advancing sustainable development goals
The session was moderated by Afshin Molavi, Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Institute of the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
It discussed the value of impactful partnerships in advancing sustainable development goals.
This is through government innovation, positive transformations, and partnership principles.
Subsequently, the roundtable session transitioned into workshops exploring the future of partnerships in achieving five specific goals highlighted in 2024 edition of the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development:
- Eradicating poverty in all its forms everywhere.
- Ending hunger, achieving food security, improving nutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture.
- Supporting climate action and urgent measures to combat climate change and its impacts.
- Enhancing peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, ensuring justice for all, and building effective institutions.
- Focusing on SDG 17—strengthening global partnerships to achieve sustainable development.

Participants included academics, researchers, government officials, and experts.
They engaged in discussions related to the achievements of the Government Knowledge Exchange Program.
Along with its impact on the first two SDGs (poverty eradication and hunger alleviation) and the thirteenth SDG (climate action).
Additionally, they explored global issues such as the role of governments in leading the transition to alternative energy sources and the responsibility of advanced economies in this field.
