The UAE Welcomes UN General Assembly Vote Granting Palestine Full Membership
The UAE welcomed the overwhelming vote by the UN General Assembly to accept Palestine as a full member.
The resolution also recommends that the Security Council reconsider Palestine’s application for membership.
Mentioning that the UAE considers this decision a historic step towards peace and achieving the two-state solution.
Statement by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized that the UAE, which presented the draft resolution during a special emergency session of the General Assembly as Chair of the Arab Group for May, remains committed to promoting peace and justice, safeguarding the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, and establishing an independent sovereign Palestinian state.
That’s in accordance with UN resolutions and relevant agreements aimed at ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The Ministry reiterated the UAE’s firm call on the international community to strengthen all regional and international efforts.
In order to achieve peace and the two-state solution.
Arabian Gulf Countries Supported the General Assembly Resolution:
Gulf Cooperation Council:
The Secretary-General of the Council welcomed the UN resolution.
It stated that the 143-vote outcome confirms and affirms the Palestinian right to this recognition.
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia:
Saudi’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that this decision reflects international consensus with the inherent right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state within the framework of the two-state solution.
Sultanate of Oman:
Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the global majority is urging the Security Council to recognize the State of Palestine.

Jordan:
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi considered the UN vote in favor of full membership for Palestine as “proof that Israel has become a pariah state.”
Safadi wrote on his accounts on social media platforms:
“With the continuation of the barbaric Israeli aggression against 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza, the majority of the world’s countries stood with justice.”
Important Notes:
The resolution was adopted by an overwhelming majority of the General Assembly with 143 countries voting in favor.
Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations still requires approval from the Security Council.
Where the United States is likely to use its veto power to prevent it.
Despite this, the resolution is considered a significant symbolic step towards international recognition and promotion of the Palestinian rights.
