AlDar Stage, Part of The UAE Tour Passes Across Prominent Tourist Landmarks
Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed followed the cyclists at the beginning of the sixth and penultimate stage, known as “AlDar Stage.”
This 138 km stage passed through some of Abu Dhabi’s most prominent tourist and cultural landmarks.
Including Yas Island, Al Rumaila, Khalifa City, Zayed Sports City, Al Reem Island, Qasr Al Hosn, and the Arabian Gulf Street.
Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed also met with the junior team at the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club.
His Highness confirmed that Abu Dhabi has become a leading destination for hosting and organizing major international sport events and championships.
He also highlighted Abu Dhabi’s role as a capital for prominent cycling activities.
Such as: the UAE Tour, UCI Urban Cycling World Championships, and Bike Abu Dhabi festival.
This position is attributed to the emirate’s well-developed sports infrastructure.
Which contributes to the development and spread of cycling throughout the country.
Race Results:
Belgian rider Tim Merlier, from Team Soudal Quick-Step, was the champion of the sixth stage.
Mentioning that he completed the 138 km race in 3:02:14 hours.
He finished before the Dutch rider Arvid de Kleijn from Team Tudor Pro Cycling and the German rider Phil Bauhaus from Bahrain Victorious.
Merlier further solidified his dominance by achieving a unique record: winning three stages in a single edition of the race.
He previously claimed victory in both the Al Dhafra Stage (the first) and the Dubai Stage (the fourth).
With this feat, he holds the record for most stage wins in the UAE Tour (5 stages).
And surpassing Slovenian champion Tadej Pogačar (4 stages).
The UAE Tour concludes today.
The seventh and final stage will be in Al Ain City, also known as “The International Holding Stage,” will cover a distance of 161 km.
