he UAE supported Yemen with a total of $6.6 billion in aid since 2015.
As well as a $300 million deposit to bolster the local currency.
In addition to multilateral peace and development efforts in Yemen.
Moreover, the UAE supported Yemen recently with the following projects;
Solar power generation project:
This is the first project of its kind in the republic, with the support of the United Arab Emirates.
The project reduces $100 millions of electricity consumption per month which was consumed by Aden alone.
Also, this project is expected to finish within this month.
Abu Dhabi Fund for Development is carrying out this project.
Moreover, this project includes the construction of a 120 megawatt solar power plant per hour.
As well as the construction of transmission lines and substations to transmit and distribute the power generated by the plant later.
More projects by the UAE in Yemen:
- A gas-fired power station with a generating capacity of 150 megawatts is under construction.
- A 20,000-barrel-per-day gasoline refinery, tanks, and a free zone are under construction.
- A household gas unit is under construction in the Masila area.
- The project to establish Bab al-Mandab governorate on the western coast of Yemen..
- The remaining phases of the project to rehabilitate the main road linking Thubab and al-Mandab, 27 kilometers long, opened in the first phase last March.
- The “Eid clothing” project, which targeted about 35,000 children from one to 12 years old in the coastal districts and the city of Taiz.
- The expanded food basket program was implemented in Taiz, Hodeidah, Marib, Jawf, and Qat’abah district.
Hassan Dam project in the delta of Abyan:
-The cost of the first phase was about $78 million.
-The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development funds about 80% of the dam project.
-Its cost reaches 98.582 million dollars.
-The Yemeni government only bears 20% of the cost of the dam.
-Dam will create a qualitative agricultural shift.
-The collection area for Hassan Dam is 3,200 square kilometers.
-The area of the dam lake is about 2.4 square kilometers.
-About 13,000 households will benefit directly from the dam as planned.
-10,000 hectares of agricultural land will be irrigated as planned.
