UAE Jiu-Jitsu Team Continues to Shine at Asian Championship
The UAE Jiu-Jitsu team continued its impressive performance yesterday in Under-18 category competitions at the 8th Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi.
28 Medals
The UAE athletes in Under-18 category raised the country’s total medal count in the junior and youth categories to 28 medals.
Including 7 golds, 4 silvers, and 17 bronzes.
On the fifth day of the championship, the UAE national team players won 5 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 12 bronze medals.
The gold medalists were:
Dana Al Buraiki (40 kg), Salem Al Qubaisi (56 kg) and Al Anoud Al Harbi (44 kg).
As well as Abdullah Al Darmki (+85 kg), and Zamzam Al Hammadi (57 kg).
While Shamsa Al Ameri (48 kg) and Kholod Al Balushi (+70 kg) won the silver medals.
The bronze medals were won by:
- Haya Al Dhahiri (40 kg), Metha Al Mazzini (48 kg), Moza Al Rashidi (52 kg).
- Shawk Al Balushi (70 kg), Ibrahim Al Mansouri (+85 kg), Mansour Al Balushi and Dhiab Al Darmki (48 kg).
- Obaid Saeed Al Katbi and Omar Younis Al Risi (52 kg), Harb Al Hammadi (62 kg), Ali Al Tanniji (77 kg), and Majed Al Shamsi (85 kg).
Discipline
For his part, Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, a member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s Board of Directors, said:
“The performance of our youth on the mat deserves praise and appreciation.
It was characterized by dedication, discipline, and determination.
Which contributed to the continuation of excellence and the achievement of a distinguished number of colored medals.”
He added:
“Our sons and daughters have shown the highest degree of responsibility.
They have been keen to follow up on the successful journey of their colleagues in the national team in this championship.
Noting that these achievements made by the national team in its various categories are the fruit of the unlimited support of the wise leadership.
Which provides all the possibilities and requirements to ensure the superiority of the country’s sport and its sons in various forums.”

On the other hand, the UAE Jiu-Jitsu team champions will participate today in the Under-21 category competitions.
The technical staff is heavily relying on the players of this category,
As they have the experience that enabled most of them to win medals.
